History of the building: General Bryant Manor is a large frame Queen Anne style house that was built for J. W. Hobbins in 1879 as one of many Mansion Hill investment homes. In the 1890's this was the home of Gen. E. E. Bryant, an attorney who taught at the UW Law School and was active in politics and public service.
