History of the building: Lewis Lodge is a two-story, late Italianate style building that was built in 1878 for the Estate of John Lewis. It is believed that this was an investment for Mr. Lewis as this and the house next door were built on his primary estate and later sold off as Madison's growth continued to raise demand for new properties.
