Subletting

If your situation changes during your lease term, you are welcome to sublet your apartment to another party. Here are some things you'll want to consider:

Your Responsibilities

Paperwork: You'll need to provide us with an application form and a sub-lease addendum form for your sublettor. There will also be a one-time administrative processing fee.

Rent: Rent can be paid by you or directly by your sublettor. Timely payment and subsequent late fees will remain your responsibility.

Keys: You will need to provide your sublettor with keys to your apartment. For the safety of all residents, key copies must be cut by Steve Brown Apartments. All keys must be returned to us at move-out.

Security Deposit: By law, your original security deposit must be held by Steve Brown Apartments. However, it is within your legal rights to request a private security deposit from your sublettor.

Damages: You will be responsible for any damage a sublettor causes to your apartment. Consider asking your sublettor to complete an apartment inspection upon move in. We can provide you with a sample inspection form upon request.
